Fall Internship

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Flexible hours and part-time options available)

Duration: Approximately 10–12 weeks (Late August through November)

$25/hour

Position Summary

The Santa Clarita Valley Water Agency (SCV Water) is offering a Fall Internship opportunity for motivated and dedicated students interested in communications and public relations. This role provides hands-on experience supporting public information and community engagement operations within a public utility environment.

Interns will work closely with Communications professionals to support daily tactical operations, contribute to the development of comprehensive strategic communications initiatives, and conduct public outreach for SCV Water projects.

Examples of Duties

Essential Responsibilities

  • Analyze and evaluate the performance of content on the Agency’s social media channels, as well as digital advertising platforms
  • Prepare images and graphics for social media, flyers, fact sheets, advertisements and web banners; revise and update design layouts and templates as needed
  • Develop content for the Agency’s public newsletter, Water Currents
  • Assist with outreach activities including monthly Gardening Club workshops, the Water Academy, groundbreakings, ribbon cuttings, and other events as assigned
  • Assist with internal communications initiatives, including developing content for The Pipeline employee newsletter, as well as planning and staffing all-employee meetings
  • Contribute to content development and long-term strategic planning for the Agency’s internal podcast
  • Assist with copy writing/proofreading

  • Understand how Communications supports stated objectives and contributes to the success of the Agency
