Test Technician
Responsibilities:
- Testing to ASTM & IPC test methods, etc.
- Electrical Testing, Metallographic (Microsection) Examination of Printed Circuit Board (PCB) materials, metals, polymers, composites
- Sample preparation (e.g. microsectioning, grinding, polishing, etching, soldering, etc.)
- Application of instrumentation
- Data interpretation and analysis
- Performing other materials testing and duties to fulfill the demands of the laboratory
- Performing general duties in accordance with PTL’s internal procedures, quality, and safety systems
Skills / qualifications
- High School diploma required (Associate’s Degree in Engineering preferred)
- Experience with computers (Windows operating system) and software applications to include Microsoft Office
- Previous experience in an appropriate Engineering/Materials Lab environment or with Printed Circuit Board (PCB) materials is a plus
- Familiarity with ISO 17025 is desirable but not essential
- Work independently and also within a dynamic team environment
- Self-motivated with the ability to multi task, organize and work under the pressure of a busy commercial test laboratory
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A team player attitude
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Communicate and interface effectively with management and team personnel
- Completes routine projects or tasks with minimal supervision or guidance, can also perform non-routine projects or tasks with direct guidance
- Ability to read and understand technical work instructions, drawings and specifications

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
This position requires access to export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology, software, and services. U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, protected person status under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3), or U.S. Government export authorization is required.
